First Semester

Daniehl Porttris, a 71-year-old Metis man, embarks in his equally old, decommissioned Greyhound bus on a life changing trip from Regina, SK to Victoria, BC. Daniehl’s life-long dream was to become a lawyer. Twice before, he started the arduous education process, but other elements of life got in a way. This third time he was accepted into the University of Victoria Aboriginal Law Program which he hopes to complete in four years as a Doctor of Law. During a week long road trip, bus breakdowns and other adventures, Daniehl takes stock of his life and hopes.
